About Us
As a third-generation family mason Andrew’s working life has been defined from an early age working as a trainee with his father during the school holidays. When Andrew finished school in 1986, he immediately started as an apprentice for Supaflu, a company established in 1963 by his father Peter Mcfarlane. Peter, a member of the Federation of Master Builders, developed a process to effectively renovate centuries old chimneys for modern use and introduced what became the Supaflu cast-in chimney lining system.
Andrew’s training with Peter led him to become an expert in his chosen field, masonry, where he gleaned a wealth of experience working on both domestic, commercial and historical properties. Historical properties include Hampton Court Palace, Guildford Cathedral, The Guild Hall and the Merchant Taylors’ Company to name a few.
Andrew and his wife Annie were always avid skiers and that is what introduced them to the Canadian Rocky Mountains and the ultimate charm of Fernie. It was on one of these trips, without too much hindsight on Annie’s part, it transpired Andrew had put an offer on a new property and that it had been accepted.
On returning to the UK Andrew & Annie sold their home and emigrated to Canada to start a new life, work, make new friends and subsequently in 2008, Pure Quality Stoneworks.
